When Healing Feels Like Something You Have to Carry Alone
Many people come to me after years of trying to manage anxiety, emotional overwhelm, chronic stress, or the effects of childhood trauma on their own.
While therapy can provide valuable support, difficult moments rarely happen only during appointments.
They happen at home. In the evening. After a difficult conversation. During periods of stress, loneliness, or overwhelm.
For many people, their dog or cat is already the companion they turn to during those moments.
Animal-Assisted Therapy builds on the comfort and connection you already share with your pet, helping you intentionally use that relationship as an ongoing source of support throughout your healing journey.

The most powerful support is often the support that’s already beside you.
You May Feel Drawn to This Approach If You…
Often turn to your dog or cat after a stressful or emotional day
Value the bond you share with your companion animal
Want practical ways to regulate your nervous system at home
Notice your pet naturally helps you feel calmer or more grounded
Want to include your pet as part of your healing journey
Are looking for a gentle, relationship-based approach to healing
Feel safest expressing emotions when your pet is nearby
Are looking for support that continues between therapy sessions
Support Is Needed Between Sessions Too

Healing doesn’t happen in a one-hour appointment.
It happens in the moments between sessions—the moments when anxiety rises, emotions feel overwhelming, or old patterns begin to surface.
Many people understand what helps them feel regulated while they are in a therapeutic space, but struggle to access those same feelings when they are on their own.
For those who share their lives with a dog or cat, there may already be a source of comfort, connection, and regulation available every day.
Together, we’ll explore how the support your pet already offers can become an intentional part of your emotional healing and nervous system regulation.
Understanding Animal-Assisted Therapy
For more than 20 years, I’ve worked as a canine behaviourist and have seen firsthand how deeply animals can impact our emotional wellbeing.
Many people naturally seek out their dog or cat during times of stress, anxiety, grief, or overwhelm. Animals often provide comfort, connection, and a sense of safety without asking us to explain what we’re feeling.
As an Accredited Embodied Processing Practitioner, I may only see you once a week, but your pet is with you every day.

Together, we explore how the bond you already share with your animal can become an ongoing resource for grounding, emotional regulation, and nervous system support between sessions.
Rather than relying solely on our weekly sessions, we’re learning to build on a source of support that’s already beside you every day.
What Happens During a Session?
Every session is tailored to you, your goals, and your relationship with your pet.
Together, we’ll explore how the connection you already share with your dog or cat can support grounding, emotional regulation, and nervous system awareness, both during our sessions and in everyday life.
The goal isn’t simply to feel better during a session.
The goal is to help you access support when real-life challenges arise between sessions.

Healing becomes more sustainable when support exists beyond the therapy room.
